Background

In collaboration with Cardiff, Bangor and Swansea University, Life Sciences Hub Wales established Intensive Learning Academies Wales (ILA), the umbrella brand, for three new programmes helping to transform the delivery of health and social care across the globe. These world-leading academies are delivering academic courses, while offering research and bespoke consultancy services to support individual organisations in the adoption and delivery of meaningful innovation across health and social care.

Our brief

We were commissioned to develop a new brand for the ILAs which was forward-looking, inspired by healthcare innovation and rooted in Wales. The project included the development of a visual identity and a brand toolkit which included a suite of assets for use across print and web.

What we did

Following extensive research and consultation with partners, we developed three possible concepts to fit the brief inspired by innovation, health and science.  One concept was then chosen to develop further.

The chosen concept features the letter A, which unites the English and Welsh Academies/Academiau, and uses it to create a double helix shape to bring in the healthcare element. To highlight the innovative and forward-thinking nature of the Academies an arrow was incorporated and shaped to replicate a Dragon’s tail, to showcase the programme’s roots in Wales.

The approved visual identity was then applied to a brand toolkit of assets including digital graphics, reports, brochures, roller banners and course material.

The results of our work

The visual identity and associated assets are now being used by universities across Wales to market these world-leading academies.
